First of all, a little reveal. Here’s all of Tati Tree, which I mentioned in my last post.
The design is Redbud, by Mindy Wilkes, and it’s in Knit Now 24 which you can buy either digitally or at your local (UK) supermarket. I had the privilege of tech editing the design and I couldn’t resist knitting the whole thing. I added a load of beads, of course:
and knitted a much larger version in laceweight. I absolutely love it!
Since I’ve seen a lot of new and varied designs just recently as a tech editor, I was inspired to produce something of my own. Here’s Cat Among the Seabirds:
Thanks to all the lovely people on Ravelry it spent a day in the top 20 of the hot list, reaching a giddy 8th place (it’s free and that’s the main reason). I was totally shocked! It’s an easy project and I’m looking forward to seeing it finished by other knitters.
Sometimes pink is just the thing. I bet I don’t feel that way in the depths of winter but it’s just right for a sunny day. However, the recent heatwave made knitting a bit difficult, if not impossible. I started Rosebud from tincanknits on 1 July as part of the Tangled Yarn summertime KAL but could hardly touch it when things got hot and sticky. The colour is so vivid and the yarn so soft and fuzzy. Just picking it up made me feel warmer and then mighty irritated. So I left it for a while and knitted Unexpected:
Eventually, I finished Ravelry Roses,
which has a little bead in the centre of each bud:
That completed my 12 shawls in 2013 (not counting Unexpected and my own design) so perhaps now I should turn my attention to sweaters or something similarly warm for the autumn. But I can’t (well, not entirely). I succumbed to another freebie (until 25 August), Waves of Love, and I’ve cast on some of my remaining hand-dyed BFL. However, I’ve been frogging a lot of newly started projects just recently, so let’s see how far this one goes….
